Supporting the Malheur Field Station

The Malheur Field Station (MFS) is operated as a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) educational and research center. We serve colleges and universities, grade k-12 school groups, organizations (including scout groups), families, and individuals. Our educational programs include Naturalist Services, flexible and fixed-date Workshops, and short courses (please visit our Educational Programs link for more information).

There are three main ways that we gratefully receive Support: Monetary contributions, Volunteerism, and Material Donations. Please consider the following methods to lend us your support.

We are appreciative of contributions to MFS. We would gladly receive your designated or general contribution at any time during the year. Your gift to MFS is tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. We do not give or sell contributor information to third parties.

Contributions may be sent by check via mail or by calling the office 541-493-2629 with your with credit card information. You can also donate via Paypal or the Donate button on our website. A donation button has been added on our home page. We can now accept stock donations by calling the office. Thank you.

Volunteers are very important to us!  The Malheur Field Station has a long-standing volunteer program in place and volunteers can play an important part in our day-to-day operations, one-of-a-kind projects, or off-site planned events.  We try to thoughtfully match the talents and interest of our volunteers with rewarding projects that fill our needs and theirs.

We strive to make your volunteer experience as rewarding as possible. If desired, lodging (and food service, if available) may be provided by the Station to MFS volunteers relative to the efforts involved. Please review our Volunteer Posts to see what’s been accomplished lately. If you have questions or ideas you would like to promote please contact us.

The Malheur Field Station accepts relevant material donations that are clean, functional and in good condition. Needed material donations of furniture, large appliances, or working equipment will be gladly put to use. We are always interested in improving our facilities for our guests by means of ‘greener’ and more economical methods.

Please contact MFS if you have specific items that you would like to donate. Also please indicate if transportation to MFS is available or if a pick-up of the item would be necessary. Thank you for thinking of MFS.
